University Commons Public Realm (UBC)

The UBC Commons project repaved and upgraded the landscape along East Mall, from Agricultural Road to University Boulevard. Infrastructure improvements included watermain replacements, new street lighting, and installation of an underground stormwater cistern. The completed corridor connected the UBC Bus Loop to the Bookstore, creating pedestrian-friendly roadways and an enhanced plaza around the AMS and Alumni Buildings. Key features included event lighting, seat walls, and elevated seating decks. Interactive art columns were installed outside the Alumni Building, and seat decks were positioned to overlook the new plaza at the East Mall and University Boulevard intersection.
